Installing EPDM roofing membrane

When installing EPDM roofing membrane, very few tools are needed. The ease in which our EPDM roofing is applied contributes in part to its popularity across the DIY sector. 

Water-based or bonding adhesive is applied to the membrane using simple rollers. A 4” roller is typically used for the detailing in a flat roofing system, such as around perimeter edges or around roof extrusions (flue pipes, drain outlets etc.). For larger surface areas, such as the roof deck itself, a good-quality 9” roller is commonly used to help distribute the adhesives smoothly and evenly.

The roof deck and the EPDM membrane must be free of dirt and dust before application of any adhesive or membrane. When working around corners and to upstanding walls, the EPDM must be carefully cut using good quality, sharp, heavy-duty suitable scissors.

Liquid rubber roofing application

The P500 liquid rubber roofing system is also applied using good quality rollers. In a similar application, the 4” roller is used commonly for the detailing and the 9” roller system for the full coverage.

It is worth noting that sometimes better coverage rates can be achieved using the correct sizes and type of roller. These rollers are ideal for both roofing adhesive application and the P500 liquid waterproofing solution.
