What to do if your RubberCover EPDM membrane is creased
Before you bring heat to the membrane
Because it is common to find light packing creases in the EPDM membrane, carry out the first stage in usual preparation – laying it out over the working or another flat surface to rest for 30 minutes. This should be sufficient for these creases to drop out.
Step 1
If deeper creases are still present after 30 minutes, leave for a further 30 minutes resting time.
Step 2
Make sure there is no debris beneath the creased membrane, then set and start a heat gun on the lowest setting. Gently heat the surface of the EPDM membrane and use a silicon roller to smooth out the heavier creases. Take great care during this stage not to scorch the membrane. Note: Only use a heat gun and never a naked flame.
Step 3
Work quickly across the EPDM, and do not rest in any one spot for too long.
Apply gentle, constant pressure to the roller across the entire crease. This should be enough to remove even the deepest creases from the surface of the membrane.
Step 4
Allow the membrane to cool for 10 minutes, before continuing with the usual recommended application guidelines.
