Ensuring a completely watertight seal adds to the longevity of your roofing, so using a good quality trim system is crucial. The gutter edge trim system has been designed to complete the seal and sandwiches the membrane in a two-part design. Once the backplate has been installed, the membrane installation can be completed, before returning to install the top gutter edge piece. In this guide, we will show you how to install the gutter edge backplate. Note that this trim system is best installed alongside the rubber roofing and the backplate ideally installed first, before the final EPDM adhesion at the gutter edge. What you will need:

Step 1
Remove any EPDM membrane that is overhanging the cutting edge and fold it back over itself onto the roof deck.
Step 2
Temporarily place the gutter edge back plate in position, to put the screws in, just to start them off. There is a recess in the backplate that will allow the screws to go in. The spacing on these screws are approximately 400mm.
Step 3
Once you’ve got all the screws in place, just offer the backplate over the side, making sure that the top edge of the backplate does not protrude higher than the level of the roof deck.
Step 4
Now nip the screws up securely to make sure that the backplate stays in position. Now continue with the EPDM rubber roof installation.
